Everything to Know about the Testnet
Axelar opened registrations to the incentivized testnet in July 2021. Participants interested in becoming validators can now register to join the testnet. Once approved by the Axelar team, testnet validators can work through a series of different exercises and activities with varying difficulties. As such, testnet validators play a key role in strengthening the network.
In order to ensure that the Axelar network is robust and secure, testnet validators are incentivized to test the platform. This helps Axelar to successfully launch a robust mainnet that will enable heterogeneous blockchain ecosystems to communicate and to make cross-chain requests.
Testnet Structure
How will the Axelar testnet work?
In the beginning, the testnet will be only accessible by invite only for participants chosen from the signup forms. The Axelar team plans to switch to a new version of the testnet every 4-8 weeks. With each new and updated iteration of Axelar’s testnet, a new set of participants as well as new exercises will be added.
Approved participants of the testnet are given various tasks to complete. All of these tasks vary in their difficulty and complexity. Eligible participants will be awarded accordingly to the complexity of the successfully finished exercise.
Genesis supply
Axelar’s genesis supply during the network launch will be 1B Axelar Tokens
Validator incentives
An estimate of 3% of Axelar’s genesis supply will be allocated to testnet participants and early partners
Distribution
Token rewards will be distributed at mainnet launch

Testnet Sign up
New participants for the testnet will be onboarded on a rolling basis. As the network and its technology is scaled, new users will be added incrementally.

Please note that the token allocation for testnet participants is based on your services to do community and will be subject to the successful completion of verification and compliance procedures. Participants found not to be eligible as a result of these compliance checks do not qualify for token rewards.
